Tasmanian Devil Unzoo is a four-in-one wildlife nature experience that combines up-close animal encounters, wildlife adventures, a Tasmanian native garden and original art. At our Unzoo, you’ll have face-to-face encounters with animals found nowhere else on earth, discover rare and beautiful Tasmanian plants in the Tasmanian Native Botanic Garden, see Tasmanian artworks in our galleries and have the chance to help save endangered Tasmanian devils on our Devil Tracker Adventure. Tasmanian Devil Unzoo is the world’s first intentional Unzoo—a revolutionary project to create a model wildlife and nature experience of the future. During your time with us, you’ll be inspired, intrigued, challenged and entertained. Sometimes, you might even find us a little outrageous. Our hope is that your visit to the Unzoo will challenge you to think about the natural world and your place in it, in a completely new way.
Devil Tracker Adventure
Join the effort to save endangered Tasmanian devils on our exclusive Devil Tracker Adventure experience. Take a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to go behind the scenes and become part of the vital research effort to save the last isolated, natural population of disease-free wild Tasmanian devils on the planet. The Devil Tracker Adventure is a fully-guided four-wheel drive tour through private farmland and native bush to see first hand how Tasmanian devil numbers are being tracked and monitored. Led by our experienced guides, you’ll help monitor the progress of the local population of healthy wild devils, observe recorded devil activity and record the latest findings from our hi-tech infrared cameras. During this 1.5 hour experience, your guide will lead you to our Devil Tracker Station, set on the edge of native forest. Here, you’ll learn about the healthy Tasmanian devils living in isolation on the Tasman Peninsula and Tasmanian Devil Unzoo’s role in the fight to preserve and protect the species. You’ll discover the intimate habitat relationship between natural bush and farmland, how to identify wildlife highways and discover traces of nocturnal wildlife activity. Then, you’ll have the opportunity to visit a hidden camera site in the forest and to identify and monitor vital devil activity and health data by downloading the latest images from our cameras and recording the nightly record of devil activity.
